RECENT FAVORITES {V.4}
A curated dump of all things the community and I enjoyed in May, from films to music, fashion, and more.
If it isn't the last lap of the first half! Happy June, loggers! Hopefully it's warm wherever you are, unless you are in my corner of Nigeria, where it felt like we were experiencing a heatwave earlier in the day and now the soil is wet with rain. Send help, lol. If you are in the country right now or navigating similar skies elsewhere, I'm sending you virtual hugs, and I hope reading this takes your mind off the bipolar weather. 💚
It took us three extra days than usual, but we finally have edition 4 of our favorite series (the one you currently have open on your screen). Yes, we messed up and skipped April, but we are here now, and I apologize for not giving you something to reminisce over. And no, delivering two back-to-back logs last month was not a bribe, I promise.
May was beautiful, particularly in terms of style. We had the 78th Cannes Film Festival, the 11th African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), the Resort 2026 drop, all the new collections out of Lagos, countless magazine covers, the pop-ups of Kai Collective in Lagos and Dye Lab in Chicago and New York, the 2025 Met Gala, which I spoke to you about and also shared my favorite looks and more with you on the notes tab, and, honorably, a teaser for Teyana Taylor's Escape Room—The Album, which soft-launches her musical comeback/retirement annihilation and stars Aaron Pierre and LaKeith Stanfield. The production, plot, sound design, and looks (all of which were styled by Kollin Carter!) suffocated me. It felt like a honeymoon of fashion, art, and entertainment.
P.S. Since we already touched on the Met Gala in previous logs, I tried to leave it out of this one. Enjoy 💚

#4: Style Obsession
Our style vibe was characterized by stunning women wearing warm hues, especially yellow. The WNBA is also back in business, so you know the girls are coming through the tunnel looking fly as ever, but especially Angel Reese, Skylar Diggins, and Maddy Westbeld. Maddy might be new to this runway, but the other ladies are true to this, okay!?
Resort 2026 (R26) is also going crazy, and so far my top 3 collections are from Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, and Dior.
Favorite drops from the country:
Dye Lab’s drop for the Eid festivities and their collaboration with Kai Collective was a sight to behold, oh, and they are sold out too, so we can't add the items to cart. Hertunba released the prettiest collection ever, ‘Joy,’ with an applaudable set design. I also loved Aṣọ Nigeria’s clover and halo sets, Bawsty’s Aso-oke shirt dress, and the subtle teasers from Susan Pwajok for her new brand, Ganchund. Ughh, I love it here!

#5: Photo Galore (Campaigns, Magazine covers, etc.)
Thank you for sticking with us, and I hope June brings us all immense joy. Additionally, you might want to tell us (me) what you watched in May or will be watching in June. Let's chill together!
