35 Stellar Looks At The Met Gala '24
Now that emotions are settled, shall we recap Met-Monday?
At about 22:00 West Africa Time on the first Monday night in May, I was up alongside millions of people around the world, scrutinizing fashion choices on the Met Gala’s green carpet that we—I cannot afford, from the comfort of my bed, how cool!?
Yes yes yes, four days have gone by since one of the biggest nights in the fashion calendar happened, but it is never too late to share my favorite looks with you….I am sure there is no timeframe to that, is there? I will be granting the favor you sure did not ask, to keep your screen time down and bring you up to speed because I am convinced you were too lazy to pick favorites—I did that for us.
The gala fundraises for the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute and this year's exhibition was themed, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, while the dress code was "The Garden of Time,” named after JG Ballard’s 1962 short story, of a Count who would cut a rose from his garden to send the angry mob trying to attack his castle, back in time, until no flowers were left. We saw lots of designers and invitees sailing the fairytale waters, you know floral motifs and whimsical suit jackets, but a loud applause to the attendees who went the abstract route and dug deeper to better define the costume directives, you gave me something to be amazed by.
I have carefully selected my top thirty-five looks out of the hundreds witnessed on the carpet, at the after-parties, etc., and I know what you might be thinking, but believe me when I say I tried to cut my list short, except it only felt selfish. I promise, you will thoroughly enjoy scrolling through these images, so grab a bag of popcorn and feed your eyes on some of the most standout and memorable fashion moments from Monday's event.
